“A great poet, a really great poet, is the most unpoetical of creatures. But inferior poets are absolutely fascinating. The worse their rhymes are, the more picturesque they look. The mere fact of having published a book of second-rate sonnets make a man quite irresistible. He lives the poetry that he cannot write. The others write the poetry that they dare not realize.” — Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

What’s next for the office? Well, obviously Michael is gone. And now Robert…erm, Bob is leaving too. The Andy and Erin saga took about a millisecond to reach happily-ever-afterdom, in comparison to the three seasons of Jim and Pam angst that kept us glued to the edge of our seats every week. Ronni and Darryl get together, but it doesn’t have that “finally” feeling. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. A comedic finale isn’t a good one unless it makes you cry. That being said, I was a little reminiscent for past Office finales and watched some today. Walk with me here.

I’ll start with the season two finale since season one only had six episodes. We see the beginnings of Dwight and Angela when Dwight kisses her on the cheek, then she slaps him and walks away smiling. Jim professes his love for Pam and she rejects him because she’s with Roy. He later finds her and kisses her for the first time. At this point we already know he’s transferring to Stamford. I totally cried.

In the season three finale, Jim changes his hair at the behest of his then girlfriend Karen, which will later become the exact look Chris Lowell sports in the Help. Michael, Karen and Jim interview for a corporate job in NY. In his interview David asks Jim where he sees his future. We see Jim rush back to Scranton, where he bursts into the conference room and asks Pam on a date. Again, I’m a mess over this.

In the season four finale, Jim plans to propose to Pam at Toby’s going away party. Pam is wise to this. When the time comes, Andy steals the stage and proposes to Angela, but Phyllis later sees her hooking up with Dwight. This is also the episode where we meet Holly, find out Pam is leaving for design school, and Michael runs into Jan, who is pregnant by a surrogate. This episode definitely didn’t make me cry, but they redeem themselves when Jim proposes to Pam in part two of the season five premiere.

Season five ends at the company picnic, where Michael and Holly reunite to perform a skit. Holly is dating AJ now and Michael is incredibly jealous. In this episode he predicts that he and Holly could end up together in the end, but they have a long journey ahead of them. Jim and Pam find out they are pregnant, which was the cry worthy moment for me.

The season six finale was the episode where Jo tries to find out who told the press that Sabre printers catch fire easily. Jim and Pam are married at this point, and I bawled like a baby in that episode, but nothing really important happens in the finale.

Last season ended with a ton of hype over who the new boss would be. Angela gets engaged to Senator Lipton, who Oscar believes is gay. Nothing emotionally charged there.

This season ended with a fizzle as well. David Wallace buys Dunder-Mifflin and reinstates Andy as branch manager. Andy agrees to let Nellie stay, and Robert decides to leave in pursuit of an extremely creepy service opportunity, not before he Fredo kisses Andy. Dwight schemes to get DNA from Angela and the senator’s baby to prove it’s his. Angela chases him to the testing facility and they end up holding hands and then kissing in the waiting room. Elsewhere, Senator Lipton urges Oscar to call him, obviously for romantic reasons. Again, it was a funny episode but not enough of a tearjerker to make a good finale.

So again, I ask: What’s next? What’s gonna keep them afloat next season and ultimately get them another renewal? At this point not much. I get that they’re trying to bring back that Jim and Pam feeling with Erin and Andy or Darryl and Ronni, but neither relationship has the saga factor to it. I honestly believe this will be the final season. Before the show ends, I’d like to see Michael and Holly get married, Senator Lipton come out, and Dwight and Angela finally together. That won’t save the show, but the fans would appreciate it.

The National – “The Rains Of Castamere”

i feel ya. i’m working 2 jobs right now and its really annoying at one job on friday when everyone is all excited for teh weekend and i just usually work all weekend

I know it’s so sad. :/ I work my (unpaid, unfortunately) internship Mon-Thurs & then work Sat & Sun. However, I’m on-call on Fridays.

My friends always want to hang out, & I’m like…just tell me three or four weeks in advance & I can request off & lose some money off my paycheck. *s o b b i n g*

The pure fact that this doesn’t even need a title or a description or anything speaks volumes. I mean look at the number of notes this has. There are so few people who don’t recognize it. And the song itself just gives you chills. It’s so magical.
